Participation in the Hydrotherapy Scheme requires prior assessment of applications, according to the following variables:
The extent to which the thermal treatment is needed is assessed, as well as whether the person requires one of two of the treatments offered, on the basis of the responsible statement provided by the applicant.
In the case of a married couple, they will be assessed separately and the final score will be the higher of the two obtained.
The monthly income of the applicant and where applicable, of their spouse, is assessed. In this case, the two incomes are added together and divided by 1.33.
The maximum score will be 50 points and it will be calculated according to specified income brackets.
The applicant’s age will be assessed, with one point being awarded for each year over 60 (the cut-off date is 31st December on the year prior to that of the Scheme). The maximum score here will be 10 points; in the case of a married couple, the arithmetic mean will be calculated.
In order to obtain a place, the fact of having applied or not in the two previous years and not having obtained a place in the Scheme in the last or second-last year will be taken into account. The maximum score will be 24 points.
The fact of the applicant belonging to a large family and the category will be taken into account. The maximum score for this variable will be 24 points.
Other circumstances affecting the applicant and which have not been taken into account in the other sections may be assessed. The maximum score for this variable will be 10 points.
If after all of the applications have been assessed, some have the same score, the applicants’ date of birth will be taken into account. If two applicants wish to attend together, they will first of all be assessed separately and then the arithmetic mean for their scores will be calculated.
When there is a double application for the second stage of the Scheme, the Scale will not be applied and the person will be included on the Waiting List. In establishing the order of priority for these applications, the only variable that will be taken into account will be the “extent to which the thermal treatment is required”.
There is a help and information line available to the applicants, on 901 10 98 99, whose hours of service are Monday to Friday from 9 to 21 hours and Saturdays from 9 to 14 hours.
